Here is the most interesting thing about the under-₦300,000 phone market right now: the gap between the most expensive phone you can buy at that ceiling and the cheapest decent one on the same shelf is ₦126,178.
At the top you have the Xiaomi Redmi 17 256GB at ₦296,168 on Jumia Nigeria. At the bottom, the Samsung Galaxy A07 64GB at ₦169,990, also on Jumia. Both are brand new. Both will make calls, run WhatsApp, open TikTok and take pictures of your cousin's wedding.
So the real question is not "which phone is best?" The question is: what exactly does that extra ₦126,178 buy you, and at what point does the money stop making sense? We tracked all of these across six stores on CheckPrice.ng, and the answers are not what most people assume.
On every single phone in this guide, the price difference between the cheapest store and the most expensive store is bigger than ₦23,000. On one of them — the Redmi 17 128GB — it is ₦95,001. That is more than half the price of a budget phone, lost simply because somebody didn't compare.
01. Xiaomi Redmi 17 256GB — from ₦296,168
This is the ceiling buy. It scrapes in under ₦300,000 by ₦3,832, and only at one store.
Jumia Nigeria has it at ₦296,168. Jiji Nigeria asks ₦298,000. Konga is ₦300,900, Slot Systems and Pointek Online both sit at ₦302,200, and JustFones tops the chart at ₦320,000. Compare properly and you save ₦23,832 — which is basically a tank of fuel plus change, or a decent pair of earbuds.
Who it suits: The person who wants the big-storage, newest-model feeling without crossing into ₦400,000 territory. If you keep phones for three or four years and you are tired of "storage full" notifications, 256GB is the number that actually solves that problem.
Verdict: Correct deal — but only at Jumia's ₦296,168. The moment you walk into a shop quoting ₦320,000, you are paying ₦23,832 for the walk. Read the full breakdown on the Redmi 17 256GB price page before you commit.
02. Infinix Hot 70 256GB — from ₦295,000
Infinix's answer sits ₦1,168 below the Redmi 17 at its cheapest point. The Hot 70 256GB goes for ₦295,000 on Jiji Nigeria, ₦298,300 at Konga, ₦299,900 at both Slot Systems and Pointek Online, and ₦330,000 at JustFones. Full spread: ₦35,000.
Who it suits: Infinix loyalists and heavy social media users. Infinix has built a following in Nigeria for a reason — the batteries last, the screens are bright, and service centres exist in most major cities. If you have had three Infinix phones and none of them disappointed you, there is no sense in switching brands at this price.
Verdict: Good buy at ₦295,000 to ₦298,300. Above ₦300,000 it loses its argument, because the Redmi 17 256GB is sitting right there for ₦296,168. At ₦330,000 it is simply the wrong price for the phone.
03. Xiaomi Redmi 15 256GB — from ₦259,800 (price just dropped)
This one deserves your attention because it moved. Our tracker caught a 5.8% drop — it was ₦275,900, now it is ₦259,800 at Jiji Nigeria.
The rest of the market has not caught up. Konga is ₦275,900, Slot Systems ₦275,990, JustFones ₦299,000, and Jumia Nigeria is asking a loud ₦339,999 for the same phone. That is a ₦80,199 spread on one product. Eighty thousand naira. Same model, same condition, different checkout page.
Why the Redmi 15 256GB is our value pick
- 256GB storage for ₦259,800 — ₦36,368 less than the Redmi 17 256GB
- Price actively falling, not rising
- ₦80,199 separates the cheapest and dearest store — the biggest trap on this list
- Leaves you ₦40,000 under the ₦300,000 budget for a case, screen guard and data
Who it suits: Anyone who wants maximum storage per naira. Students loading films, small business owners storing hundreds of product photos, anyone who records a lot of video.
Verdict: Best overall value under ₦300,000. Buy it at ₦259,800. Check the live listing on the Redmi 15 256GB page first, because a dropping price can bounce back.
Don't pay ₦339,999 for a ₦259,800 phone
CheckPrice.ng tracks the same product across Konga, Jumia, Jiji, Slot Systems, Pointek and JustFones — and tells you the day a price falls.
Compare prices now →04. Oppo A6x 128GB — from ₦224,900
Oppo does not get mentioned enough in Nigerian budget conversations, and that is a mistake. The Oppo A6x 128GB is ₦224,900 at both Slot Systems and Pointek Online, ₦233,599 at Jumia Nigeria, ₦245,000 at JustFones and ₦253,900 at Jiji Nigeria. Save ₦29,000 by comparing.
What is unusual here is that the physical-store chains — Slot and Pointek — are the cheapest. That almost never happens in this category. If you are the type who wants to hold the phone, test it, and collect a receipt from a counter you can return to, this is your moment.
Who it suits: The cautious buyer. Someone who has been burnt by online delivery wahala before and wants a shop address. Also good for parents buying for a secondary school leaver.
Verdict: Sharp price at ₦224,900, especially given you can walk in and collect it. Do not pay ₦253,900 for it on any marketplace when Slot has it ₦29,000 cheaper.
05. Infinix Hot 70 128GB — from ₦215,000
Same Hot 70 as number two on this list, half the storage, ₦80,000 less. The 128GB version is ₦215,000 at JustFones — and here is the twist, JustFones is usually the most expensive store in our data, but on this one product they undercut everybody.
Konga follows at ₦223,900, Jumia Nigeria ₦224,887, Slot Systems and Pointek Online both ₦224,900, and Jiji Nigeria ₦245,000. Spread: ₦30,000.
Who it suits: The practical buyer who streams rather than downloads. If your films live on Netflix and your photos auto-backup to Google, 128GB is plenty and the ₦80,000 you save versus the 256GB model is better off in your pocket.
Verdict: Strong buy at ₦215,000. This is also the clearest proof that no single store is "always cheapest" in Nigeria — you must check product by product.
06. Xiaomi Redmi 17 128GB — from ₦204,999
The biggest trap on this entire list, and also one of the best deals.
Jumia Nigeria has the Redmi 17 128GB at ₦204,999. Konga is ₦211,300. Slot Systems and Pointek Online are both ₦213,400. Then JustFones asks ₦300,000 — a full ₦95,001 above the cheapest price for the identical phone.
Let that land. Somebody walking into the wrong shop today pays ₦300,000 for a phone that is ₦204,999 online. With ₦95,001 you could buy the Samsung Galaxy A07 64GB outright and still have ₦25,000 left for airtime.
Who it suits: Anyone who wants the newest Redmi 17 design and chip generation without paying 256GB prices. It is the same phone family as our ₦296,168 top pick, for ₦91,169 less.
Verdict: Excellent at ₦204,999 to ₦213,400. Criminal above ₦250,000. Check before you pay — that is the whole message.
07. Samsung Galaxy A07 64GB — from ₦169,990
The floor of this guide, and the phone that makes the strongest argument against spending ₦296,168.
The Samsung Galaxy A07 64GB is ₦169,990 on Jumia Nigeria, ₦170,000 on Jiji Nigeria, ₦181,100 at Konga, ₦190,000 at JustFones, ₦196,444 at Pointek Online and ₦196,450 at Slot Systems. Comparing saves ₦26,460 — which on a phone this cheap is over 15% of the price.
Samsung is Samsung. The brand carries weight in Nigeria, resale value holds better than most, and software updates actually arrive. The trade-off is 64GB of storage, which fills faster than you expect once WhatsApp media starts piling up.
Who it suits: First phone for a teenager. Second phone for your business line. Replacement phone when the main one is at the repair shop. Anyone who needs a reliable new Samsung and refuses to spend ₦250,000.
Verdict: Buy at ₦169,990 or ₦170,000 and no higher. If 64GB worries you, the 128GB version starts at ₦181,500 on Konga — only ₦11,510 more for double the space. That is one of the easiest upgrade decisions in the market. Note that the 128GB model stretches all the way to ₦250,250 at Slot Systems, a ₦68,750 spread, so compare carefully.
08. The full price table

| Infinix Hot 70 256GB | ₦295,000 | Jiji Nigeria | ₦330,000 | ₦35,000 |
| Xiaomi Redmi 15 256GB | ₦259,800 | Jiji Nigeria | ₦339,999 | ₦80,199 |

| Infinix Hot 70 128GB | ₦215,000 | JustFones | ₦245,000 | ₦30,000 |

| Xiaomi Redmi 15C 128GB | ₦173,998 | Jumia Nigeria | ₦199,000 | ₦25,002 |
| Samsung Galaxy A07 64GB | ₦169,990 | Jumia Nigeria | ₦196,450 | ₦26,460 |
09. What that ₦126,178 actually buys
Back to the opening question. Going from the ₦169,990 Samsung Galaxy A07 64GB to the ₦296,168 Redmi 17 256GB gets you four times the storage and a newer chip generation. That is a real upgrade, no argument.
But here is where I plant my flag: the sweet spot in this entire list is not at the top or the bottom. It is the Xiaomi Redmi 15 256GB at ₦259,800. You get the same 256GB as the ₦296,168 phone, you save ₦36,368, and the price is actively falling. The second-best call is the Redmi 17 128GB at ₦204,999 — newest model, newest design, under ₦210,000.
And if your budget is firm at under ₦200,000, the Xiaomi Redmi 15C 4G 128GB at ₦173,998 on Jumia gives you 128GB for ₦3,000 more than a 64GB Samsung. Do that maths yourself.
Across these ten listings, the total amount you can lose by buying from the wrong store is ₦465,338. Not on one phone — spread across the market, store by store. Nobody is cheapest on everything: Jumia wins five of them, Jiji two, JustFones one, Konga one, Slot and Pointek one. Check each product individually, every single time.
Phone prices in Nigeria move weekly, sometimes daily. The ₦259,800 on the Redmi 15 today was ₦275,900 not long ago, and it can swing back. That is exactly why CheckPrice.ng exists — so you see all six stores on one screen instead of opening tabs until your head hurts.
Pick your phone from the table above, click through to the product page, and buy from the store that is actually cheapest today. No phone on this list is worth paying ₦95,001 extra for.
