Anybody who has walked into Computer Village or scrolled Jumia in the last few months already knows the story: the naira found some footing, but import duty, clearing charges and the cost of moving goods from Lagos port to a shelf in Ikeja have not gotten any cheaper. That is why a phone that looks like it should cost ₦120,000 on paper ends up at ₦190,000 in a Nigerian store — and why the same phone can carry three completely different price tags depending on which shop you open first.
That gap is the whole reason CheckPrice.ng exists. Across the ten phones we pulled for this guide, the difference between the cheapest and most expensive listing ranged from ₦5,332 to a wild ₦95,999. Same product. Same spec. Different store.
So here are the best buys under ₦300,000 right now, who each one is for, where it is cheapest today, and my honest verdict.
On the OPPO A3 (8GB + 256GB), Konga is selling at ₦284,000 while Jumia has it at ₦379,999. That is ₦95,999 you keep simply for checking two stores instead of one. Nearly ₦100,000 — for a two-minute search.
01. Poco C71 — ₦116,973 (Jumia Nigeria)
If your budget is tight and you just need a phone that makes calls, runs WhatsApp, holds your bank app and doesn't embarrass you, this is where I would start. The C71 is a 6.88" phone with 3GB RAM and 64GB storage running Android 15.
Let me be plain: 3GB RAM in 2026 is entry level. You will not be editing videos on it. But for a first phone, a secondary line, a phone for your parent in the village, or a backup you keep charged in your bag, ₦116,973 is a sharp price.
Jumia has it at ₦116,973, Slot Systems at ₦121,500, Konga at ₦126,000. Comparing saves you ₦9,027 — small money on paper, but that is a full tank of data for the month.
Verdict: Best under-₦120,000 option on this list. Buy it for the second SIM, not for gaming. Check current Poco C71 prices here.
02. Redmi A7 Pro — ₦165,000 (Konga)
This one is for the shopper who wants storage more than anything else. 4GB RAM, 128GB ROM, 6.9" screen, 4G LTE. 128GB means you can keep your photos, your church recordings, your Afrobeats playlist and three banking apps without that "storage full" notification ruining your day.
The price spread here is one of the more annoying ones. Konga: ₦165,000. Slot Systems: ₦169,900. Jumia: ₦191,199. That is a ₦26,199 swing on an identical phone. If you had walked straight to the highest listing, you would have paid almost 16% extra for nothing.
Verdict: The value king of the ₦165,000 bracket. Big screen, big storage, small price — as long as you buy it from the right store. See the Redmi A7 Pro price comparison.
03. Poco C85 — ₦167,586 (Jumia Nigeria)
For roughly ₦2,500 more than the A7 Pro, the Poco C85 gives you 6GB RAM instead of 4GB, with the same 128GB storage and a 6.9" screen, running Xiaomi's HyperOS.
That extra RAM is the entire argument, and it is a good one. More RAM means more apps sitting in the background without the phone reloading them every time you switch. If you are the type with WhatsApp, TikTok, Opay, a banking app and Chrome all open at once, this is the one to pick over the 4GB options.
It has also just dipped — down 0.7% from ₦168,786 to ₦167,586 on Jumia. Slot Systems is asking ₦180,900 and Konga ₦189,900, so comparing saves ₦22,314.
Verdict: My favourite pick in the ₦150,000 – ₦180,000 range. 6GB RAM at under ₦170,000 is genuinely good market. Compare Poco C85 prices.
04. Samsung Galaxy A07 — ₦189,750 (PC Place)
Some buyers simply will not accept a phone that isn't Samsung. I understand — resale value is real, and the service centres are everywhere. The Galaxy A07 is the cheapest way into that world here: 6.7" screen, 4GB RAM, 128GB ROM, 4G, and it is listed as new.
Here is where it gets interesting. PC Place has it at ₦189,750. Pointek Online wants ₦250,210. That is ₦60,460 between two Nigerian stores for the same brand-new phone — 32% more if you shop carelessly. With ₦60,460 you could buy a decent pair of earbuds and still have change for airtime.
Verdict: The correct entry point into Samsung if you are under ₦200,000. Just do not pay the Pointek price. Check Galaxy A07 prices across stores.
05. Samsung Galaxy A16 — ₦207,990 (Jumia Nigeria)
The A16 (4GB + 128GB) is the safe, sensible, "I want to stop thinking about phones for the next three years" choice. Samsung's A-series has a track record of getting software updates longer than most budget rivals, which matters if you keep phones for a while instead of flipping them yearly.
Jumia: ₦207,990. Konga: ₦280,000. The gap is ₦72,010 — more than a third of the phone's price. I have seen people pay the higher number because they only ever open one app. Don't be that person.
Verdict: Best "buy once, forget about it" phone just above ₦200,000. At ₦207,990 it is a correct deal; at ₦280,000 it is not. See Galaxy A16 prices.
06. OPPO A3 (8GB + 256GB) — ₦284,000 (Konga)
This is the biggest price drop in the entire dataset and the one I would shout about to a friend. The OPPO A3 with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage has fallen 25.3% — from ₦379,999 down to ₦284,000 on Konga.
8GB RAM and a quarter-terabyte of storage under ₦300,000 is not the normal Nigerian market. That spec sheet usually starts around ₦350,000 and up. If you shoot plenty video, keep offline Netflix, or you are the friend everybody sends 400MB files to, this is your phone.
Jumia still has it listed at ₦379,999. Konga has it at ₦284,000. ₦95,999 difference. I have nothing more to add.
Verdict: Best overall value under ₦300,000 today, full stop. Price drops like this rarely last — they usually mean stock clearance. Check the OPPO A3 price now.
07. REDMI 17 (6GB + 256GB) — ₦296,868 (Jumia Nigeria)
Right at the ceiling of our budget sits the Redmi 17 with 6GB RAM and 256GB storage at ₦296,868 on Jumia. Konga is ₦300,900, Slot Systems ₦302,200 — so the spread is only ₦5,332 here, which tells me this is a hot, in-demand model with tight pricing across the board.
When stores price a phone within ₦5,000 of each other, it usually means nobody is desperate to clear it and demand is steady. You won't find a bargain; you just pick whichever store you trust for delivery.
Verdict: Solid pick if you want the newest Redmi number with 256GB. But if it were my money at this price point, I would take the OPPO A3 at ₦284,000 for the extra 2GB RAM and save ₦12,868. Compare Redmi 17 prices.

| REDMI 17 (6GB/256GB) | ₦296,868 | Jumia Nigeria | ₦5,332 |
Two more worth a look
The Poco C81 Pro (4GB/128GB, 6.9") has slipped 1.8% to ₦166,999 on Jumia, with Slot Systems still at ₦189,900 — a ₦22,901 gap. And the Samsung Galaxy A17 4G (6GB/128GB, listed as new) is ₦287,500 at PC Place versus ₦327,570 at Pointek Online. If you want 6GB RAM and the Samsung badge under ₦300,000, the A17 is the one.
How to actually shop this list
- Never buy from the first store you open. Across these ten phones, the average saving from comparing was over ₦37,000.
- Prioritise RAM over screen size. Almost every phone here has a 6.7"–6.9" screen. RAM is what decides whether the phone still feels fast next year.
- 128GB is the new minimum. Only go 64GB if the phone is a spare.
- Confirm the condition before you pay. Several of these listings don't state condition at all — ask the seller directly and insist on it in writing.
- Move fast on real drops. The OPPO A3 falling 25.3% is a clearance signal, not a permanent price.
My final picks
Tight budget: Poco C71 at ₦116,973. Best all-round value: Poco C85 at ₦167,586 — 6GB RAM under ₦170,000 is hard to beat. Best Samsung: Galaxy A07 at ₦189,750 from PC Place. Best deal on the whole list: OPPO A3 at ₦284,000, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage after a ₦95,999 price crash.
One thing I want you to take from this: the phone you buy matters less than the store you buy it from. Two Nigerians can buy the exact same Galaxy A16 this week and one pays ₦207,990 while the other pays ₦280,000. Nothing separates them except a price check.
